Margaret Fitzgerald, née King (September 16, 1896 – October 20, 2009),〔(Oldest known person in Canada dies ). ''The Globe and Mail'', October 21, 2009〕 was a Canadian supercentenarian who was the oldest person in Canada from 2007 until her death in 2009. She attained this title at age 110 years 124 days, after the death of 115-year-old fellow Canadian, Julie Winnefred Bertrand, on January 18, 2007. Fitzgerald died of natural causes at the age of 113 in a nursing home in New Brunswick on October 20, 2009. She grew up on a farm in Tankville, New Brunswick, and moved to Moncton as an adult, where she took a job as an office assistant to Dr. Reginald Fitzgerald, who would become her husband. The couple later moved to the French islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, where Dr. Fitzpatrick continued his medical practice, and resided there until his death. His widow returned to New Brunswick, where she operated a convenience store in Moncton's Humphrey neighbourhood.〔 ==See also==
